FOR WHOM IS THE COMPETITION INTENDED?
The competition participants can be students or graduates of such branches of study as architecture,
urban development, landscape and garden architecture and self-taught people educated in the branch,
whose age has not exceeded 33 years as of the closing deadline for submission of competing designs.
DOES IT MEAN THAT I CAN BE A STUDENT OF EVEN A HIGH/SECONDARY SCHOOL?
Yes, a participant of this competition may be any person whose age does not exceed 33 years as of the Closing Date. If you
are younger than 18 years old, your Affirmation must be signed by your next friend.
I DO NOT STUDY DIRECTLY THE STUDYING BRANCH OF ARCHITECTURE, BUT LANDSCAPING. CAN I APPLY FOR PARTICIPATION TOO?
Yes, you can register yourself. It would, however, be desirable if you sent a study (design, dissertation) which takes into
consideration a building facility. Nevertheless, it is not a precondition.
HOW CAN I APPLY FOR PARTICIPATION?
It is very simple. It is sufficient for you to download (from www.architectaward.cz) the Application Form,
the Affirmation, to pay the fee and bring or send your designs to the Competition Secretary.
CAN I REGISTER MORE DESIGNS?
Yes, you can register your design in more categories. In such a case, they will be assessed individually.
For example, in the category of studies and in the category of implementations. You must, however, send all
the documents twice, including the payment of the fee. After sending a copy of the application form to the
e-mail address:
houdkova@abf.cz, you will receive two variable symbols from us.
WHAT TO DO IF THE DESIGN IS THE JOINT WORK OF TWO AUTHORS?
Then the design authors will fill in one application form and state themselves (both of them) as authors and
will send us their design only once.
HOW CAN I OBTAIN THE VARIABLE CODE FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE FEE?
The simplest way is to scan/fax the copy of the application form with the contact data to the address
houdkova@abf.cz, or FAX: 225 291 197 / 222 891 197, respectively, and we will
forthwith send you your variable code
HOW SHALL I SEND MY DESIGN?
All the parts of the contest designs (application, document confirming the payment of the fee, consent of
the author and of the owner of the construction for the implementations category, digital part, printed
presentation) will be marked with author’s name and will be inserted into an envelope with the text:
„Architect Award ABF 2009 - realizace“ (“Architect Award ABF 2009 – Implementation”), „Architect
Award ABF 2009 - studie“ (“Architect Award ABF 2009 – Studies”)
HOW ARE THE DESIGNS EVALUATED?
Each design will be evaluated individually. Nevertheless, the main criteria will be (without any order
of significance) quality of the architectonic design, layout and functional designs, including the interior,
urban development study of the location selected in the context of the entire area, relation to the environment
and existing development, suitability of the use of materials, technologies and structures.
